Balance 47 polymer, a hyhobically modified acrylic resin, is specifically designed to produce superior performance in pump hair sprays containing low volatile organic compound (VOC) aerosols and water. The negative effects of water in such systems are well known. Water contributes to both increased viscosity and increased surface tension, resulting in wetter sprays with larger particle size. These sprays are inefficient in coating the hair. Water also affects the hairs initial curl , drying time, polymer retention properties, and stiffness.
